Texs cities always do well on surveys of the best places to live, and a new report places one Austin-area suburb in its top 20. WalletHub recently released its 2016 list of the best small cities in America, and Cedar Park ranks No. 16.For its rankings, WalletHub analysts compared 1,268 cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000. They looked at data across five key areas: affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety. Among the 30 key indicators of livability are housing costs, school-system quality, number of restaurants and bars per capita, and crime rate.
In terms of economic health, Cedar Park is right up there, ranking No. 8. That ranking takes into account unemployment rate, percentage of residents living below poverty level, and population and income growth. However, at No. 128, Cedar Park's not the most affordable place to call home.Other great small cities in Texas? Southlake, No. 10; Allen, No. 23; and Wylie, at last-but-certainly-not-least No. 30. All located in North Texas.
